Crime or No Crime

Is it required that impeachment articles allege actual crimes? The Defense argues yes, while the Prosecution says no.

If you are following the impeachment hearings you have heard this question gone over, and over, and over. The Constitution states that impeachable offenses are bribery, treason or other high crimes and misdemeanors.

I am not a lawyer but when the defense says this means real and actual crimes which in the real world carry actual punishment this makes sense to me, You know, things us normal people get put into jail for.

if your following the festivities though you hear this rebuked by the prosecution over and over. Why are they doing so?

Well it’s obvious, neither of the articles of impeachment which have been brought against Trump are actual punishable crimes. They don’t really argue against this either. Instead they argue that not every impeachable offense is crime, and not every crime is an impeachable offense.

Are you having trouble following this? I don’t blame you if you are because it’s nonsensible gibberish.

Moreover, they site the Nixon impeachment as precedent. They argue that Nixon had multiple articles levied against him and not every single one was an actual crime, but they were still actions unbecoming of the President of the United States and by default impeachable offenses.

This is how Democrats spin a pile of BS in their favor to railroad a duly elected President. Nixon was not going to be removed from office because of non-crimes. Nixon did not resign his office because of non-crimes. Nixon was accused of legitimate real crimes. The articles that were going to take him down were the actual crimes he committed.

Moreover, Clinton was impeached over real actual crimes. Clinton lost his license to practice law because he perjured himself in court. He lied under oath period.

Andrew Johnson was impeached for ignoring the “Tenure of Office Act” which he believed to be unconstitutional. The act was passed by the Radical Republicans in congress because he immediately clashed with them after assuming the Presidency following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln.

Real crimes punishable in real court. The precedent is clear. Moreover, no President has ever been removed from office.

I say Trump’s odds are good. Nice try Democrats but thank you for playing.
